
This wine is from the Frank Vineyard located on Country Club Drive adjacent to Sonoma creek. The vineyard slopes slightly and contains sandy loam soils. This location is right in the middle of Sonoma Valley. The vineyard is planted in 4 by 6 spacing with vertical shoot positioning.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of anise, black cherry, mint and wild berries. The black cherry and anise are also present in the flavor along with violets. The finish offers tangerine and bing cherry. The 2006 Frank Syrah exhibits bright acidity and soft tannins. The color is deep ruby red.
Technical Information
14.2% alcohol. Harvest occurred on October 9th. The grapes were inoculated with D254 yeast in one ton bins and punched down by hand twice daily, maceration lasting 7 days. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrels to enhance mouth feel. Aged 22 months in French oak. The wine was bottled on August 18, 2008, only 219 cases were produced.
